Amber, with her fiery red hair cascading over her shoulders, was a creature of habit. Every afternoon at the local public library, she'd set up camp at the same worn-out table in the quiet corner of the second floor. The scent of dusty tomes and the gentle hum of the air conditioning were her companions as she tapped away at her laptop, trying to breathe life into her latest novel. She was a writer in the throes of a perpetual battle against the tyranny of the blank page.

On this particular day, the sun had just begun to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow through the tall, dust-speckled windows. Amber felt the weight of the day's struggle behind her as she decided to indulge in a much-needed break. She leaned back in her chair, stretching her arms above her head, and caught the scent of something peculiar. It was a faint musk, not entirely unpleasant, but definitely foreign to the library's usual olfactory landscape.

Her boyfriend Derek, a burly man with a beard that seemed to hide more than just his chin, had decided to surprise her. He had snuck in while she was lost in her work, and the sight of him immediately made her heart flutter. The tension between them was palpable, a dance of unspoken desires that had been simmering for weeks. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, his breath hot against her skin, "You've been working so hard, babe. Time for a little reward." His voice was a seductive purr that sent a shiver down her spine.

Without a second thought, Amber stood up, her chair scraping against the tiles, and allowed Derek to lead her to the secluded stairwell that connected the second floor to the staff-only third floor. It was a place she had never ventured before, but she followed his lead with a thrill of excitement and a hint of trepidation. As they climbed the stairs, their footsteps echoed softly, muffled by the thick carpet that had been laid to absorb the sounds of countless whispers over the years.
